Welcome to Big Little Sleep, I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Naina Mahtani, a clinical health psychologist, certified sleep consultant, and most importantly, a toddler mama!
When I had my son, I found myself mentally and physically exhausted. My little guy was a reflux baby with less-than-ideal sleep, and to no surprise my sleep became significantly impacted as well. I found myself struggling to thoroughly enjoy motherhood because I was so exhausted. I wanted to sleep train, but was terrified of ‘cry it out’ and my heart could not handle watching my little guy cry endlessly. I worked with a wonderful sleep consultant who helped me get my son to sleep with gentle sleep training (nope, not cry it out) while still being able to feed him at night. I found myself enjoying motherhood so much more and felt so amazing that my son & my family were getting the much-needed sleep we all deserved.
A clinical health psychologist by training, I have an expertise in health and wellbeing. I have worked with hundreds of individuals to treat insomnia and other sleep difficulties. I believe in a holistic approach to treatment, and really like to think about primary motivators for change (understanding your why & how we can get there). After becoming a mother, I felt a deep sense of passion to expand my skillset and obtain sleep consultant certification to help children & families get better sleep.
